Les Arcs and La Plagne together are one of the largest ski areas in the world: the Vanoise Express connects Plan Peisey in Les Arcs to la Plagne (via les Coches) creating the combined Paradiski ski area.
Les Arcs has skiing and boarding for all standards. Beginners and intermediate skiers are well catered for; more advanced skiers are probably better off in les Arcs than neighbouring la Plagne. Due to the lack of good skiers in les Arcs and la Plagne you will often find powder to the side of the pistes days after ski resorts such as Val d'Isere have been skied out.
A brief guide by category of skier will be added soon to this site. You will find our unique piste by piste guide below (currently being worked on): just click on the sector that you want and look for the colour coded pistes. A similar guide has already been developed for La Plagne and La Rosiere.

Ski passes can be bought on line via the tourist office and other sites. These websites are often so confusing that skiers give up. It is probably best to buy your les Arcs or Paradiski ski pass via your ski tour operator, some bigger operators seem to use very generous exchange rates (to them) when buying in advance so beware. Smaller tour operators tend to sell lift passes locally and at the normal public rate - these would normally be delivered to your ski accommodation in les Arcs.
There are many different ski passes available and even deals for beginners - ask your tour operator which is best for you. Some sites have very helpful tables which pretty much explain all the ski passes that you might normally want, try Ski Beat's website for booking ski passes in les Arcs: they can only sell to skiers and snowboarders staying in their own ski chalets but you can still use the information on their site. Ski Beat charges in exactly the same as the ski lift company and in Euros, the credit card companies would be responsible for the exchange rate. |
