Most skiers and snowboarders are aware of the environmental impact we have. There is no doubt that skiing and snowboarding are not the most eco-friendly sports, it would however be unrealistic to ask a skier or snowboarder to stop and we all want our holidays. To reduce the impact we have when skiing or snowboarding there are a few simple choices. Skiing in France is the closest ski destination to the UK so going there minimises fuel emissions when travelling; a high altitude ski resort means less snow-making; to check out how les Arcs rates environmentally and what les Arcs is doing try www.saveoursnow.com. Some tour operators are notably more environmentally friendly than others: some simply invite you to make a contribution (they do not necessarily do anything themselves) whereas others have distinct policies on what they do.
